Lykkeland* (Land of Happiness)

Lykkeland* (Land of Happiness) (2007) was a production for children choreographed by Jamie Watton and produced by dybwikdans. Lykkeland is a meeting with characters and situations the children can recognise from their own playing. The production offers close dialogue between performer and spectator.

Jamie Watton has based his choreography in the playing of children. As part of the artistic idea work children was invited to take part in a dialogue with the dancers in dybwikdans, and they were asked to describe their lands of happiness.

Press coverage

"The choreography, which is by Jamie Watton this time, is catchy and lively and includes activities the children recognise, such as playing jumpsies, cleaning one’s room, bickering. The dancers make a good job onstage where they move confidently through the room in dynamic formations. Dance and music are all in all well-integrated in the performance and flows nicely into one another. The stage design is filled with exciting details."
