At the webpage of Brageteatret the following, among other things, is written about 5boys.com:
"5 boys have a secret meeting place where they meet every week to play. In this sacred zone the chaotic reality that is surrounding them disappears, and they are absorbed by a role play for which they make the rules.
As Superman, Spiderman or Aragorn they fight and conquer in the battle against all the world's evils, whether the enemy is called Darth Vader, is a homosexual man or Germans from World War II... And no girl is allowed to join.
Simona Semenic has written a text in which the five boys are to be interpreted by women, who among other things examine internal group hierarchies and violence mechanisms in society. Violence almost exclusively performed by men.
The production raises questions regarding gender roles, belonging to a group and the human fear of weakness. Is the game always a game, or does reality define our imaginations as well? Who wants to play the victim and who wants to play the executioner, and can we always agree on the rules of the game?
With 5boys.com Brageteatret wants to have a look at the development of youth culture based in the linguistic and in regard to humanity and human worth."
