sOlOduOtriO

sOlOduOtriO (2002) is a production by Tone Avenstroup.

Tone Avenstroup, Margareth Kammerer and Harald Fetveit have gone to pick berries. The result is a video from the forest, plus a soup made of blueberries. In the plaza outside of Kunstnernes Hus they make a camp. The spectators are given soup. On the TV one can see a transmission from the intermedial room, in which there is a reading, singing and a concert.

At the webpage of Tone Avenstroup the following, among other things, is written about sOlOduOtriO:

"The concept is pretty simple: the artists are invited to participate with a sOlO performance, and to take part in a constellation and develop a duO or a triO. There is an opening for different combination possibilities and variations of person combination and material. Based on the material each person brings in, whether it is music, text, image or object, it is important that there is a meeting and dialogue between the different persons and their materials.

The works don't need to be related to one another, not in the idea worked out from, not as the end result. If they can be repeated is the artists' responsibility to decide, the same goes for the durations. I consider the series as a wandering between ego and collective, to do something alone or together. It is an open interweave, in which different acts are put on parallel, different necessities are confronted.

sOlOduOtriO is a search for works with fleeting expressions, with a character of flimmer, sketch, performance, in which the situational aspect is more important than the finished result.

The concept is a formula, a structure not saying anything about the content. But can one separate the content from the person, the person from the material? The expression goes that 'empty barrels make the most noise', but how can one avoid filling them with political correctness?

When the wife of a populist politicians sped down the stairs outside of the palace in a car, after having given her husband a lift to a royal dinner, many asked themselves: Was it a mistake? Was she drunk? Was it a scandal or a provocation? But what would have happened if an artist did the same; imagine that it was an art project, what would it have become - surreal, banal, interesting? What are the options of art, its distinct character? Is there something in-between? Between decoration and disappearance, a slap on the ear and a smile?"
