At the webpage of Akershus Theatre the following, among other thing, is written about An Enemy of The People:

"Ibsen's piece on environment and freedom of expression is more topical than ever.

Despite the serious side of the drama, comedy lies slinking behind. A conflict between brothers and taking oneself too seriously make up some of the ingredients. The drama is told at high pace, with music, and is as much about our day as it was when it was written. Perhaps some of the themes are more important than ever. How much are we willing to pay for the environment? Which are the sacrifices we can accept, and when does it get personal?

Ibsen's An Enemy of The People (1882) is said to be the first 'environmental play' in the world. Dr. Stockmann wants to rid the town of the rottenness of its bath, but society's lies and silencing result in him ending as a protestor against the compact majority and the elite of the society. In his battle for truth, in the meeting with the society's institutions, the town declares that Doctor Stockmann is an enemy of the people and leaves him standing alone.

'The thing is, you see, that the strongest man in the world is the man who stands most alone.'

(...)

The production will be performed in a brand new version in which music will be important."
