Project 2: Soma Sema
Project 2: Soma Sema (2006) by PONI (Belgium) is the second project by the Belgian art collective.
In Project 2: Soma Sema PONI directs its attention towards theatre. How to reveal the rituals and obsessions of theatre? What is left of the classical themes? What is the point of curtain fall? The basis for Project 2: Soma Sema comprises three key words: ritual, illusion and death, and with them the production as well as the theatre is the subject of a thorough striptease. Codes, signs and forms from theatre, art, film, music and so on are brought together: scraps of various languages which together form a new language.

The company behind Project 2: Soma Sema – PONI – consists of artists with various backgrounds. Some are musicians, others dancers, others wanted to be athletes, but ended as actors, then writers and back to actors again. What connects these artists is a kind of punk attitude with an energetic and anarchist approach to the work.
The PONI collective was established by Frank Pay and now consists of Rodolphe Coster, Lieven Dousselaere, Gudni Gunnarsson, Sylvi Kretzschmar, Marc Lallemand, Kate McIntosh, Erna Omarsdottir, Frank Pay, Sinusjog, Julie Andrée Tremblay, Camilla Ulrich and Jesse Van Bauwel.
