Love without Stockings
Love without Stockings was a staged reading by Trøndelag Theatre, produced in 2014, based on the play by Johan Herman Wessel.
Kenneth Homstad directed it.
"Love without Stockings is one of the first real parodies of theatre history. When considering how irony and parody still march their victory parade at the Norwegian humour stage it is amazing to see to what degree the play heralds the humour of today. Love without Stockings is no less than a Norwegian parody of French tragedy, the theatre and the convention of finding 'the one'.
The play was written as early as 1772 and it is about the young Grete who decides that if she is not getting married this day exactly, she will never be married. Her fiancé Johan von Ehrenpreis is out of town, and because of that, she turns to her ex-boyfriend Mads. But Johan is not lost, he steals Mads' stockings, and Mads gets into a rage, and so the action goes on."
