At the webpage of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Faust:
"Eirik Stubø is back with a new classic. This time he invites the audience to take part in Faust's search for truth, and his own search to understand Faust.
What is it that makes Faust such an important play, what makes it feel so modern? Is it because we recognise the emptiness within the man who has all the knowledge in the world, but lacks joy? Or is it because we - like Faust - wish for eternal youth? Join a playful ensemble in their search the true.
(...)
In Goethe's drama Faust is an extremely learned, endlessly knowledge-searching university teacher, who longs to make the human family's practical life experience his own. To achieve this he enters a pact with Mephisto. If Faust stops striving for higher insight and humanity, his soul is to go to Mephisto. But if he keeps striving for divine knowledge, he may win his salvation. Mephisto also gives Faust the gift of youth again, so when he meets the beautiful and innocent Gretchen (in some translations called Margaret or Marguerite), she falls senselessly in love with him. But the cost of all earthly wisdom is high, and evil and death spread like pests among those Faust loves."
In Faust by The Norwegian Theatre the following music was used:
Franz Schubert: Gretchen am Spinnrade, from Der König in Thule (The King in Thule)
Deep Purple: Smoke on the water
Led Zeppelin: Stairway to heaven
Wilhelm Lindemann: Trink, trink, Brüderlein trink
Stamm Werner: Wenn das Wasser im Rhein goldner Wein wär
Sonny Bono: Bang bang
Svenn Erik Kristoffersen: Mono Toni
Elias Blix: No livnar det i lundar
Troggs: Love is all around you
