No Dice
No Dice is a theatre production by Nature Theatre of Oklahoma (USA).
Pavol Liška and Kelly Copper directed it.
The narrative relates to to the tradition of epic storytelling, though in an unusual manner. There is no scripted basis for the production. Instead the cast relates to models from plays and hero epics from earlier ages, such as The Odyssey and Thousand and one night. The diffuse narrative thread is based on more than hundred hours of recorded phone conversations between the actors, their friends and family; Marc Dale, Anne Gridley, Teresa Gridley, Robert M. Johanson, Jo Liegerot, Zachary Oberzan, Adam Tsekman, Katarina Vizinova and Kristin Worrall.

In No Dice by Nature Theatre of Oklahoma topics within art, religion and work are discussed, as are personal worries: "Should I stop drinking?", "Will I be fired?" and "How do we get our hands on the great amounts from Hollywood?".
The text material is put together in new combination every time, and it is being replayed for the performers through headphones. This is contrasted by dialogues from amateur dinner theatre. While the actors work hard to transform the material from their own daily lives into art, the facade of cheap theatricality may unravel around them, and the question some spectators will ask themselves is: Will they even be able to complete it?
Together the directors Pavol Liškaand Kelly Copper have created several productions. No Dice has been described as an entertaining daily life epic with room for fake moustaches as well as pirates' hats.

Brian Parks on the production No Dice by Nature Theater of Oklahoma, performed during Under The Radar Festival 2007, The Call of Nature, Village Voice [New York]:
"Over the past several years the Nature Theater of Oklahoma has evolved into one of New York's most talented ensembles (...) their shows are smart, witty, highly physical, and eager to twist notions of theatricality."
Wilborn Hampton and Jason Zinoman on the production No Dice by Nature Theater of Oklahoma, performed during Under The Radar Festival 2007, Under The Radar Festival in Review, The New York Times [New York]:
"Nature Theater of Oklahoma, the most buzzedabout new troupe on the New York avant-garde scene, is certainly not for traditional tastes, its gleefully democratic spirit and old-fashioned showmanship certainly aims to please - and do so quite winningly."
