At the webpage of The Arctic Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Den fordømte nordlendingen* (The Damned Northerner):

"Expectations and interest were enormous prior to Arntzen's return to the theatre with Den fordømte nordlendingen. 'Oluf' had ceased to exist. Now, the story of the northerner was to be told, seen through the eyes of Arntzen. Nils Magne Knutsen had in his book Mørket og kuldens rike (literally: The Kingdom of Darkness and Cold) described the northerners the way priests and officials had perceived them through the years. Some of these stories became the foundation for the production. Lennart Lidstrøm directed it, the stage designer was Hilde Hauan Johnsen, and Dagfinn Bakke had painted watercolours, stage drawings and the poster. Onstage were Arthur Arntzen, John Sigurd Kristensen, Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr. and Finn Arve Sørbøe.
This became the very greatest audience success of the theatre, and for the first time, more than 100 000 spectators attended a singular production at a Norwegian regional theatre. The production was performed throughout a full year and ended its run in Moss."

Den fordømte nordlendingen* (The Damned Northerner) became the most-selling production in the history of The Arctic Theatre. It was seen by 100 182 spectators. In addition, it was filmed and broadcast by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

Press coverage

Hans Rossiné, Fordømt morsomt (literally: Damn funny), Dagbladet March 17 1996:

"Blessed are all Northerners, who have humorists of Arthur Arntzen's caliber among them. With three excellently witty knights, King Arthur triumphs in Norway's likely most funny performance right now."
