Circus Granados

Circus Granados by Eilertsen & Granados Teaterkompani is a poetic jester performance with live music, magic numbers, "animal acts" and the largest soap bubbles in the world. At a deeper level, the performance is about two people and their mutual dependency.

Circus Granados was made while Andreas Eilertsen and Cristina Granados were still part of Teater NOR. In 2006 they brought the production to Eilertsen & Granados Teaterkompani.

The production is made in a musical jester tradition inspired by traditional circus, Charlie Chaplin and Marx Brothers on one side, and Fellini's I Clowns and La Strada on the other.

Circus Granados by Eilertsen & Granados Teaterkompani is the story of a small, travelling circus. For generations it has travelled from town to town using horse and cart, and it has played the world. But in recent years, things have gone bad. We meet them on the road, as they get ready to camp for the night. Now there are only two artists left. Together they keep the circus running, with all the acts and traditions. During one late hour they go through a few of their acts, and we witness spectacular acrobatics, juggling, clowning, magic numbers and animal acts.

The two artists in Cirkus Granados by Eilertsen & Granados Teaterkompani depend on each other to maintain their universe. It is impossible alone. Hence Cirkus Granados also is a story about two humans and their mutual destiny. In hard times they have to make existential choices in their search for artistic expressions, meaning and happiness.
