Bygones

Bygones (2006) by Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt was about memory. It was about what we remember and what remembers us, the intense moments that return, the strong emotions that colour subsequent experiences. The theme was looking backward.

More

Bygones by Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt was about life that has been lived and passed on into a stream that flows through us, rocking us back to what was and is. The crucial was moving further, continuing the flow. What has been is not standing still, it keeps streaming. It floats into the sea and into eternity. It goes into circulation and returns over and over again.

January 29 – March 14 2007 the production was on tour with the Norwegian Touring Company (Riksteatret).

Bygones by Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt was supported by Arts Council Norway.

Press coverage

Inger Margrethe Lunde, dato ukjent, Aftenposten [Oslo]:
"One seldom finds a choreographer so consistently tied to own point of departure. With the tiniest of variations she has inched her way forward, opened spaces and closed them, given topics nuance. In terms of form and existentially speaking she suggestively engages in a clinch with the past and with life here and now? (...) The performance addresses something timeless, while at the same time, a sense of resignation rises to the surface. But it does not sadden. Out of the resignation something new emerges; it is gently mannered; it does not swagger, does not boast. Perhaps it is about reaching maturity?"

Elisabeth Leinslie, Vakkert om minner (literally: Beautifully about memories), 2007, Dagsavisen [Oslo]:

"Subtly and directly the dancers describe how experiences from the past are stored in the body. [...] In Klakegg and Wallin's composition East Asian and Norwegian traditional music meet with noise music and quiet, ambient electronica. The totality of it is a pleasure to the ear. [...] The text parts fit nicely in the dramaturgy, and the dancers perform them with splendour and edge, but the content is uninteresting."
