The choreography Russia by Stellaris Dance Theatre was inspired by the Russian singer and composer Igor Talkov, who was shot backstage after a concert October 6 1991. Talkov was known for his texts, which were critical to the Soviet rule in a politically difficult time. Talkov’s followers meant it was a political assassination. The Russian-Orthodox church in the choreography is a metaphor for the tragic history of Russia as well as a symbol of the country Russia.
Russia was part of the Stellaris Barents project and was produced by Stellaris Dance Theatre.
