Compact Living
Compact Living was a dance production by Jenny Svensson and Stellaris Dance Theatre, produced in 2010.
As a student one often has to accept living compact and sharing not that much room with others. Jenny Svensson made a site-specific performance with this as a subject. Jenny Svensson was the Young Choreographer of Stellaris Dance Theatre in 2009, and in 2010 she was the company’s Young Artist.

In Compact Living by Stellaris Dance Theatre and Jenny Svensson six dancers served kitchen worktop surrealism and washing schedule fanaticism in a site-specific dance performance.
The subject and the movement material was found in the many years of experience the ensemble had with sharing daily life and its routines with too many people in too small a space. In a flat in the street of Liljeveien in Harstad the audience got to take part in the confrontations, negotiations and comedy arising in the kitchen in the living collective Compact Living from an (apparently) safe distance in the living room couch.
