Yumiko Tanaka/Ivar Grydeland, Jazzkammer, Brynjar Bandlien was the title of a concert with the artists by the same names. Improvisation and electronic music of international capacity was on the menu when the venue Teaterhuset Avant Garden invited to a double-billed concert with Japanese-inspired impro and Norwegian noise the autumn of 2005.

The concert Yumiko Tanaka/Ivar Grydeland, Jazzkammer, Brynjar Bandlien was arranged in collaboration between Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, Ny Musikk and Avant Garden.
Since 1998 John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug have, under the name of Jazzkammer, published around a dozen critically acclaimed records at companies such as Rune Grammofon and Smalltown Supersound, while touring Europe, Asia and USA.
Ivar Grydeland is one of the most central persons in the improvisational community of Oslo. He examines and challenges the timbre opportunities in acoustic guitar and banjo.
Yumiko Tanaka has experience from Japanese traditional music, free jazz and noise in addition to being an active promoter of contemporary Japanese composers’ music. She has a personal approach to the traditional instrument shamisen. Tanaka has worked with people such as John Zorn, Butch Morris and Heiner Goebbels. During the 1990es she was a member of Otomo Yosihide’s legendary band Ground Zero.
Brynjar Bandlien works with contemporary dance and improvisation and has collaborated with Jo Strømgren, Manuel Pelmus, Philipp Gehmacher and Raimund Hoghe among others.
The concert was presented in collaboration between Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, Ny Musikk and Avant Garden.
