Symposium is arranged the first Tuesday every month and is a research arena in which the performing artists in Trondheim are offered the opportunity to perform projects or to test works-in-progress and if they want, receive reactions from the audience after.
Symposium's mandate is twofold. Aside from offering an opportunity to the performing artists of Trondheim to test their ideas in front of an audience, we wish to allow the audience to take part in a slightly different, refreshing and inspiring performing arts experience. If the spectator wants to participate in the discussion after the performance or just to observe, obviously is the spectator's own choice.
Symposium started in its current form during the autumn of 2008, and several of the projects performed under Symposium have later been developed and been accepted in the ordinary program of Avant Garden. Symposium is a dynamic project in continuous development, ever changing, not least because of the very diverse artists and art projects finding their way to the event. We also welcome artists working with other expressions than the traditional performing arts - all that is possible to perform for an audience is of interest for Symposium.
