Transe Express

The French company "Transe Express" is highfalutin and cutting-edge, or, as they express it for themselves: "Music, fine arts, prowesses, circus, fire, literature, mechanics, metallurgy, rock, lyric art, etc. with one constant: theatre to reveal the resolution of our spectacular adventures. This is why we’re calling it intervention theatre. With one permanent motivation: meet the public and play in public space" (Transe Express, www.transe-express.com, 29.07.2010, http://www.transe-express.com/GB_index.htm).

Transe Express was established in 1982 by Brigitte Burdin and Gilles Rhode. Since then Transe Express has, with its characteristic and highfalutin performances, made itself a solid name. The company has performed, among other occasions, at the opening of the channel tunnel between England and France, at Champs-Élysées New Year’s Evening 2000 and in connection with the Olympics in Athens.
