Pygméteatern has been in existence for 30 years. Visual artists and musicians originally formed the group. In their desire to experiment they discovered shadow puppetry, the perfect combination of visual image, music and drama. We have since that time evolved into a highly professional theatre group that mixes shadow puppetry with puppets, masks and actors.
We play mostly for children. Its all about terrible things and wonderful things and the difficulty of growing as a human being. Sometimes poetic, sometimes drastic but always with a lot of warmth and humour.
We have our own theatre in Stockholm but are mostly on the road, touring throughout Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia. We have also successfully taken part in theatre festivals around the world winning prizes for our artistry.
Pygméteatern consists of founding members Sten Wallin and Michael Koitzsch, actors Åse Nelson, Rune Jacobsson, Mia Ståhl Broborg and Mats Johanson, technician Richard Danielsson and producers Vesna Stanisic and Brita Cronvall.
