Balleteatro was founded in 1983 as a center for the development of performing arts. Balleteatro functions as a dance company, an educational service, a professional theatre and dance school, a documentation centre, an audiovisual centre, a performance venue and offers an artist-in-residence programme.
Balleteatro organizes the festival Dança.pt.
