Vinskvetten
Vinskvetten/Salhusvinskvetten originated in Salhus outside of Bergen. Vinskvetten’s trademark is using dialect, humour and local culture. The company has had an expansive production of records, concerts and revues. The last show by the group, No kjem dei tre siste* (Here comes the last three) in 2008/2009 sold more than 30 000 tickets.
In direct translation, Vinskvetten means "the slump of wine". The name is, as you will see, a play of words inspired by another music group.
*Not yet translated into English. The title within parentheses is the Norwegian title's literal meaning.

On the webpage of Vinskvetten one can read the following about the group’s history (translated from the Norwegian dialect called striledialekt):
"Vinskvetten was created at a local revue in Salhus in 1975…At the time it was meant as a parody of Salhuskvintetten (a Norwegian quintet from the same municipality as Vinskvetten, Sceneweb’s comment). At the time everyone played football on the A team of Norna Salhus, a sports club we have been and are strongly attached to….. at least some of us. For different reasons some chose to emphasis football and others music. The first years we played a lot, some quit Vinskvetten, others joined. From 1986 the ensemble has been stable with the same members as we have today.
A milestone was the recording of a TV program in 1983 called Livet i Råthåla* (Life in the Rotten Hole). To us this was a major thing, but the program, obviously, was soon forgotten … save for the most eager fans of ours and our families, of course.
Råthåla (The Rotten Hole) has followed us throughout all the years and we have eventually made us a little community there. The texts reflect this and we draw all kinds of world problems in there. The years have passed and we have kept working. The gigs increased … even gigs when we had to spend the night, and that was huge, you see. The salary sufficed to buy each of us a hot dog on the ferry back home … we felt like pop stars ……….. We have gotten an increased number of gigs over the year and we live on the bright side of life. We think we are having a good time, we enjoy it and we feel privileged. There aren’t many community centres in Western Norway we haven’t visited… This can be very tiresome with rigging up and down day after day after weekend, but the past few years we have worked for people to come to us…… (Age changes one thing and the other and our backs). That’s why we have chosen to do more jobs in a steady venue, such as Logen Theatre in Bergen, over the past few years…… Let people come to us instead.
