Winners
  • New International Encounter

NIE - New International Encounter - is awarded Danse- og teatersentrums scenekunstpris (The Performing Arts Award of Performing Arts Hub Norway) for 2011. The award is connected to artistic bravery in the work of a specific production. NIE is given the prize for the work with Everything Falls Apart.

The award is given out by the board and administration of Performing Arts Hub Norway. Performing Arts Hub Norway finds that NIE in its artistry has cultivated the theatrical narrative as a basic material for its productions. The company is not afraid of keeping a finger on the pulse of the themes and issues of contemporary times, translating it to a performing arts expression in which music, light, objects, stage design in a poetic as well as expressive form is employed, and the unease of the times is also given a voice. In the productions the artists convey the NIE-like in form and expression brilliantly. They also manage to communicate the productions at a liberating all-ages level in a time being very target group regulated.

The award was given out during the general assembly of Performing Arts Hub Norway April 29 2011 at 6 pm, in a pre-opening of the new theatre venue The Other Theatre, in the street of Ivan Bjørndalsgate 9, the borough Sagene in Oslo.

The production My Life with the Dogs was performed prior to the award ceremony-

The award consists of a travel grant of NOK 15 000.- lus the etching Pianist II by Geir Nymark.
