The Lebanese media artist Walid Raad lives in New York, where he teaches art at Cooper Union. He is an articulated analyst of the circumstances concerning long-lasting and diffuse warfare such as in his country of origin, Lebanon. In his performances Raad is known to balance discreetly and efficiently on the line between fiction and historical facts in addition to using humour in an emphatic manner appealing to audiences. Raad’s work includes video, photography and essays. His work has been presented at the Documenta 11 festival, The Venice Biennale, the Whitney Biennale, the Ayloul Festival in Beirut and a number of other festivals in Europe, Middle East and Northern America.
