Lillian Bikset

Lillian Bikset (born in Bodø 1976) is a Norwegian dramaturge, employed by The National Stage from January 2021.

Bikset has experience as a theatre critic, journalist, writer, dramaturge, translator, lecturer and panel discussion participant/leader. She wrote theatre criticism for the newspaper Dagbladet (2006-2020) and the journal Norsk Shakespearetidsskrift (2014-2020), was responsible for several theatre categories in the Norwegian encyclopaedia Store Norske Leksikon, and worked as the translator of Sceneweb. Beyond this, she worked freelance, prior to being hired by The National Stage.

Among other things, Bikset has formerly worked as a culture reporter for the newspapers Dagbladet (2003-2005), Dagsavisen (2005-2006) and Nordlands Framtid (Bodø, 1998-2002). She has lectured at Nordic Black Theatre Xpress (NBX, 2014-2015).

In addition to her work as a critic and translator, Lillian Bikset accepted freelance assignments as a writer, dramaturge, consultant and debate chair/participant.

Bikset was educated within journalism, history, theatre theory and history of art at Bodø University College and The University of Oslo.

Her translations include Elisabeth Leinslie's book Independent Performing Arts in Norway.

Bikset was a member of The Hedda Jury from 2015 to 2019, and the jury's spokesperson from 2016 to 2017.
