In/Between: Scenic

In In/Between: Scenic the company In/Between has gathered three visual arts companies working in the intersection between visual arts and performing arts.

The objective with In/Between: Scenic is to create an interesting meeting between performing arts and visual arts. The participating artists find that the past years have brought visual arts and theatre closer and that the meeting between the two art forms is a natural one, due to the references to image and visual dramaturgy the genres have in common. Working interdisciplinary in a search for potential in the meeting between expressions is a trend nowadays.

In In/Between: Scenic the company In/Between wishes to visualise the interdisciplinary and to convey the thinking, methods and current trends to the spectators.

In In/Between: Scenic In/Between collaborates with the visual arts companies Mr. Helium and The Holy Gliders, Stjernesalongen and The Four.

Mr. Helium and The Holy Gliders is a pop-up performance band. The four members all claim to suffer of what they refer to as the Tivoli Syndrom. Reputedly, when they were children, they were left by their parents while they were in trance after riding the carousel in an amusement park, and this led to them only being able to exist when somebody wants them to. With burning hearts they perform what they claim to be reality through songs about deceit, hope and love.

Stjernesalongen consists of three women who are based in Haugesund. In Stamsund they perform the performance Fengsel, stengsel og en smule lengsel* (Prison, hindrance and a little bit of longing), in which the numbers three and thirteen are recurring.

The last company, The Four, presents four projects. One is Titanikk (a word play on Titanic), a performance about a captain who have yet to realise himself, plus his crew. The second is Familien* (The Family), an interactive installation in which the whole family can take part. The third project is called Måsene - Hitchcock, eat your heart out!* (The Seagulls – Hitchcock, eat your heart out!) and was an outdoors concert. The last project was called Konsert for hurtigrute, flysirene og flammeorgel* (Concert for coastal cruise ship, air raid siren and flame organ).
