At the webpage of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Blasted:
"Violence exists in all kinds of shapes. All human communication and all societies' rule can be read as violent. There is always someone who's on top. If you break the law, you can be threatened with violence, under law. Maybe it has to be like this. But why? Why are we people so violent?
The basis for playwright Sarah Kane in writing Blasted, was the brutal war in Bosnia during the 1990es. She found that the seed of war was latent in human relationships. Through the play, she wanted to study the phenomena of war through a poetic and brutal story about two lost souls."
