At the webpage of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about The Cherry Orchard:

"Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard is one of the great classics in theatre history. The play illustrates a changing world, in which the old elite is about to fall, and new values are growing forth. In times such as these there are many different undertows, and it can be difficult to manoeuvre correctly. The conflict between before and now goes through the play, but the characters have opposite perspectives. Past is beautiful and terrible, bad and good, dependent on who's talking. And the future is filled with hope and possibilities for some, but scary and sad for others."
