At the website of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Sickle:
"Endre grows up to take over the farm in a Western Norwegian rural area in the 19th century. He meets Abelone, marries her and takes over the farm. In front of him is a future very similar to the one his father and the fathers before them have had.
But then, Endre falls ill and he becomes bedridden, and the farm has to be sold. Who is Endre without the right and the duty he is born to. What is the purpose of his life now? That is when the books arrive, from the other side of the ocean, bringing Endre out into the world.
Sickle is a story about a simple, yet grand life. About the universes books can open, and how a bedridden man can take part in discoveries in countries far away. It is a story about a time that no longer exists, but still is recognisable. And it is the story about the love between Endre and Abelone. A couple who, in the end, has to make up a language of their own to be able to talk to one another."
