Hamsun at Hamarøy

In Hamsun at Hamarøy Knut Hamsun (as a puppet) showed up through the fog. He was carefully monitored by two doctors in white scrubs, as he held his speech for the centre built to his honour. After his speech he opened a bottle of champagne with a bang and gave his centre the name of Hamsun Storsenter (literally: Hamsun Great Centre, a name evoking shopping malls).

At the webpage of Nordland Visual Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Hamsun at Hamarøy:

"The architect Steven Holl, who came descending from the great abroad as Nagel from Hamsun's Mysteries, in a yellow tailor-made suit and hat, and with a violin case with the original drawings for the centre, congratulated the people of Hamarøy and thanked the initiators.

A number of representatives for public life and private businesses held speeches. The ceremony ended with an act by Wakka Wakka and Nordland Visual Theatre, in which Hamsun himself surfaced in the fog, holding a speech for The Knut Hamsun Centre, carefully monitored by two doctors in white scrubs. Hamsun was unable to hide his joy and pride in that there will now be a centre built in his honour."
