At the webpage of Vega Scene the following, among other things, is written about Sweatshop Aleppo:
"In Sweatshop Aleppo we meet three volunteering aides who search for boat refugees somewhere along the Mediterranean. While they wait, they revive the stories of two young girls who sew lifejackets in a textile factory in Turkey, and a boy dreaming true dreams. The latter is locked in by the war in Syria. These young people all dream about the freedom to be together and to move freely. About doing ordinary things, such as meeting the person one is in love with, or to know where one's family is.
In Sweatshop Aleppo poetry, dreams and music melt together into a unique sound experience. The audience is placed in the middle of the story universe, sitting on benches with the actors onstage."
The development of the script has been supported by Arts Council Norway and the freedom of expression foundation Fritt Ord, and Sweatshop Aleppo has been developed in collaboration with Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHIO).
