At the webpage of Kilden Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Privacy:

"How does an introvert, recently separated writer tell the story of herself? In Privacy, we meet the writer who mourns lost love while having trouble writing, and who asks Google for advice on how to find herself.

We follow the writer through conversations with her psychologist. When he introduces role play as a therapy tool, this starts an uncontrollable link of associations in her, in which family members, scientists, Google managers, pick-up experts and the FBI show up. This is the beginning of a painful, yet humorous process of self-examination.

The main character of the play needs to find her identity anew after suddenly finding herself alone. She travels to New York to get away from her former life and to meet new people. Or... does she travel to New York simply because her ex has moved there? The psychologist has one perspective on her challenges, her mother another. But how does she look at herself, and can she accept what she sees?

However, the play is as much about how we put each other under surveillance - and about what it does to us as human beings.

The themes of Privacy are inspired by Edward Snowden's revelations about governmental surveillance. For what really happens when we so willingly share information about ourselves, leaving digital traces all over the internet? Does privacy exist, in the society we live in?

How do we relate to a society in which all our data is stored, and where we share more with unknown third persons than the people we meet face to face?"
