"Elena Ferrante's great epic about Lila and Elena is now staged at Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre). The Neapolitan novels took Norway by storm when the books were translated into the New Norwegian in 2015 and the following years. We follow the intense friendship between the childhood friends Elena and Lila through a tough upbringing in Naples during the 1950es and up to our time. This is a wide-ranging portrait of an all-encompassing and universal shared experience dealing with big issues such as the struggle for power, women's emancipation and a class journey.
This is the Norwegian premiere of the theatrical adaption of Ferrante's epic work. The production has been given the Norwegian title Min briljante venninne and it is performed as two full-length parts."
