God Smiles

At the website of Trøndelag Theatre the following, among other things, is written about God Smiles:

"Everybody knows somebody who is constantly unlucky, involved in insolvable conundrums. Things one can impossibly get away from. Justin is one of these people, a young man who early learns that living is not for the most vulnerable of us. He loses his father and is forced to take a lot of responsibility. Then his mother dies, and Justin is alone. But he has Rebekka, a young girl he grew up with, and who feels like a sister to him - or does she, really?

It pains him when the other boys look at Rebekka. It pains him when Rebekka sees him just like a brother. Justin gets married more or less at random. When his wife dies, too, he can really feel his loneliness. Whereas most of us would have gone to bed, not wanting to get up, Justin won't let his heavy mind crush him. And luckily, Justin and Rebekka meet again, and now, everything seems destined for them to start a life together.

With God Smiles, The Touring Theatre of Trøndelag leads its Duun trilogy to its end. The trilogy has promoted lesser known books. This is theatre in its simplest and most powerful form, in which the emphasis is on the story and the text."
