Demons
With the production DemonsTeater NOR wanted to examine the close spiritual world. Demons opened with two sparsely clad girls performing the Book of Genesis to bossa nova rhythms from a small 1970es Hammond organ. The production had something of a cabaret form, in which visual and musical tableaus overlapped, making a poetical whole. Demons was for joy more than afterthought. It was made in 1997 and toured Norway.

Teater NOR presented the production Demons in the following manner:
"There is more between heaven and earth and so on... In our age, people smile increasingly foolishly when saying this. It is often expressed as some kind of joke, irony with our close ancestors’ faith, perceptions and image of the world. When one uses the words demon and obsessed today, most people’s connotations go towards a sparsely clad young girl surrounded by several elder, sincere-looking men; the priest and his assistants. The girl is very passionate, but she vomits green.
The image is a rude simplification lacking nuance, making us dumber and reducing the dangers, something which can cost us dearly. The modern media’s tabloidization of all information is one of the factors behind this development, but worse is the collective escape of the academic collegiate throughout the last century. And how long is it since the church took this issue seriously?
Slowly, but certainly, the world has made a knee-fall for gravity, the multiplication table and psycho analysis. This is what today is called science. On this foundation all socio-cultural systems and the interpretation of such are build. In what is this reckless escape founded? What is the reason for this spineless cowardice and the lack of ability to see?
While the rest of the world plays blindfold games without a blindfold and with the lights on, while the church arranges carnivals for kids and serves sweet bread rolls and soda, Teater NOR takes the heavy responsibility upon itself. Without any other weapon than the imagination, the artists infiltrate the world of demons – without disguise and with an open mind."
