With The Rime of the Ancient Mariner Teater Grimsborken wanted to examine the spiritual aspect of being human. We are more than flesh and blood, and we are part of something bigger... but what?

How a ship that had passed Equator was drifting towards the cold land of Antarctica and how it set course towards tropical latitudes of the Pacific. How the ancient mariner got back home to his fatherland.

The English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge(1772-1834) remained something of a mystery in his contemporary time. One acknowledged his knowledge, his talent and unusual intellect. At the same time one didn’t understand where he wanted to go. Many felt he was a hope not fulfilled, an impressive vessel not able to set sail.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Teater Grimsborken was supported by The Freedom of Expression Foundation Fritt Ord and The Norwegian Actors’ Equity Association’s fund for freelancers.
