Das Licht im Kasten
Das Licht im Kasten (2018) is a planned theatre production by Trøndelag Theatre, based on the play by Elfriede Jelinek. The production will be performed in the theatre's venue Studioscenen.

Elisabeth Beanca Halvorsen was nominated for The Hedda Award 2018 in the best text for the stage category for her translation of Jelinek's play.

"In familiar style, Jelinek lets loose a flood of words, scrolling over us, restlessly. Completely ruthless and obviously elegant. It is a verbal avalanche, a comical avalanche, an aggressive ride. The vulgar contrast stands between the inner chaos and spiritual hunger of the western consumer, and the external conditions, Asian child workers and producers on the cheap. Modern slavery on one side, shopping circus on the other. But this is also a declaration of love: Jelinek is known for her fashionable style, and she loves clothes. The issues are many and expansive - and they concern us more than we would like to think. Jelinek throws herself into it, with a text mixing ancient myths and Kant's critique of pure reason with modern body obsession, selfie mania and longing for the perfect life, among much else."
