Domesticity

At the website of Rogaland Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Domesticity:

"Despite her young age, Emilie Hetland has an impressive baggage of artistic merits, and June 18 2012, Aftenbladet reviewer Kristin Aalen encouraged the readers to 'pay attention to Emilie Hetland', at the occasion of her production Exposed. This spring, Emilie Hetland visits Rogaland Theatre with a new play, and with her is Øystein Martinsen as a director.

In Domesticity the theme is her and him. They met in Lisbon. They danced before midnight. They are now going to couple's therapy. He beats her from time to time, but they don't talk about that. They have chosen to preserve their love. They have chosen each other. Domesticity is an attempt at confronting young contemporary violence. The play puts the spectator in the therapy chair, and at times it becomes a meta-modern experiment in human self-examination.

The production is a collaboration project by Rogaland Theatre and Tou Scene, performed by Emilie Hetland and Magnus Rostad under the direction of Øystein Martinsen. The text has been developed with support from Norwegian Centre for New Playwriting (NCNP/Dramatikkens hus), and the project has been supported by the municipality of Stavanger and the grant Per Erling Ramslands Legat."
