Rattus Norvegicus
In Rattus Norvegicus by Turnékompaniet we are in Norway sometime not far into the future. Everyone living in Norway has to perform the great Norwegian test. The test is supposed to measure your degree of Norwegian-ness. The main character is a typical Norwegian. He is born to ethnically Norwegian parents, and except for a year in Sweden, he has lived in Norway his whole life. Still he fails the great Norwegian test, and he is trapped in a limbo he can never get out of.

The play Rattus Norvegicus by Turnékompaniet is built as a chain of associations regarding the situation of Arne. His whole identity, belonging, self-respect and human worth are questioned.
In the production by Turnékompaniet the election process is on and a newly written play about some of the aspects of the process of integration have become of current interest.
Will Norwegian fish cakes taste better with a tortilla? Roll into a potato wrap and confirm your identity. Arne always believed he knew who he is. But he was wrong.
Communicating fear always seems to be authentic communication. You can claim feeling fear, and no one can prove you don’t. The fact makes fear attractive in public communication, because it resists any kind of rational criticism. Fear is a principle holding stand when all other principles fall apart. The person who feels fear has the moral on his side, especially if he feels fear on behalf of others.
Rattus Norvegicus by Turnékompaniet was supported by The Audio Visual Fund, the county of Hedmark, the municipality of Hamar and Teater Innlandet.
