THE FESTIVAL PROGRAM May 28 – June 1 2008:

The Norwegian Storytelling Festival 2008 invited participants from Norway and abroad: Daniel Morden and Tuup came from UK, from Egypt came Chirine El Ansary. Several Norwegian storytellers were invited, among them Heidi Dahlsveen, Amir Mirzai and Anne Flugstad.

Mirzai, Flugstad and mk2 performed productions for children. The children could also partake in activities with FabelAkt. Elias Akselsen told stories and sung from his own life. Benedicte Hambro, the granddaughter of not unknown C. J. Hambro, gave a familiar meeting with Norwegian history in a performance in which the small things changed the future. Ragnhild Mørch performed her production Multidentitet (Multi identity).

The 2007 winner of the debutant competition Spranget (literally: The Leap) Eva Maria Aagaard told stories and Professional Stories were told, with among others Steven Wilson; an entertaining chemist with a PhD. The festival musicians of the year were percussionist Knut Lothe and trumpeter Per Willy Aaserud. The festival was opened by leader of the city council, Erling Lae, and as usual it opened and ended with specially made productions.

The Norwegian Storytelling Festival is arranged by Albatrass and Fortellerhuset, who both work to display the art of oral storytelling of high quality. On the festival board of 2008 sat Per Jostein Aarsand, Sara Birgitte Øfsti, Georgiana Keable, Tanja Steen, Ingunn Christensen and Marie Ulsberg.

The Norwegian Storytelling Festival 2008 was supported by Arts Council Norway, the freedom of expression foundation Fritt Ord, the municipality of Oslo and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via The Norwegian Association of Performing Arts.
