In the autumn program of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Le Grand Macabre:

"The previous time Stein Winge worked for The Norwegian Theatre, was with the six-hour long production of The Bible. This time, what Winge is to battle with, is the absurdly humorous and grotesque production that is given the Norwegian title Skål for dommedag! (literally: Cheers to doomsday!). The play is best known under the title Le Grand Macabre, after Ligeti's opera based on the play. Here, we meet the obscure character Nekrozotar (Sceneweb's correction), who threatens to break the world apiece with a comet. Doomsday panic spreads among the population, but Nekrozotar (Sceneweb's correction) gets blind drunk, and forgets about the whole thing."

At the webpage of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Le Grand Macabre:

"The mysterious Nekrotezar claims to be a fallen angel, sent by God, for vengeance against humanity run wild. He threatens that the red comet is to blow them apart by midnight, and panic spreads. His real wish for revenge is against the malicious Salivaine, the woman who drove him away many years ago. But Nekrotezar feels cold, and has a few drinks, leading him into utter intoxication with the merry drinker Poprenaz and the philosopher Videbolle. The end of the world doesn't go as planned. Drunk, he forgets the whole thing. When he wakes up, very hung-over, he and everybody else can see that the world stumbles on, even though some corrupt advisors to the naive prince Goulave have tried to destroy as much as they could. Eventually, truth and context come to light."
