The production Winter - a silent sleep by Company B. Valiente, choreographer Gunhild Bjørnsgaard and Polski Teatr Tańca was made in a meeting between four performing artists, the Norwegian saxophone player Rolf-Erik Nystrøm, singer/dancer Silje Aker Johnsen and the Polish dancers Małgorzata Mielech and Szymon Halik. Sounds and movement existed side by side in a journey through past and the experience of awaiting future. The production aimed to be a poetic examination of winter; of the great silence and what rises from silence.
The dance performance Winter - a silent sleep was part of Polski Teatr Tańca’s production cycle named after the seasons. The productions have been performed in different venues in Norway, and have toured France and Poland among other countries. Polski Teatr Tańca is the biggest dance theatre company of Poland and can best be compared to the Norwegian Carte Blanch.
Winter - a silent sleep took part in the MultiPliè dance festival.
Winter - a silent sleep by Company B. Valiente, Gunhild Bjørnsgaard and Polski Teatr Tańca was supported by FWK, EEA Grants Norway Grants, Arts Council Norway and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts).
