To see a man about a dog is created by the company Haagenschmagen, consisting of the dance artists Ida Wigdel and Janne-Camilla Lyster. Both are educated within contemporary dance from Oslo National Academy of the Arts and have formerly collaborated in different choreographic projects.
To see a man about a dog is their first full-length performance, opening in Black Box Teater the autumn of 2009.
The English expression to see a man about a dog is a euphemistic colloquialism – a more refined way to express a taboo. In hope of social interaction without tension we daily use such linguistic disguises when there is something we want to avoid talking about. Similar strategies are displayed in our physical daily life. Body language also has its disguises and in To see a man about a dog Haagenschmagen grabs hold of them. The emphasis is on underlying thoughts, emotions and purposes in a production in which the physical level of detail is enlarged and expanded.
To see a man about a dog was supported by Arts Council Norway and The Fund for Performing Artists.

"… if the suppressed is oozing out somewhere else Wigdel and Lyster are ready to catch it and make quality art out of it. Because of this Lyster, Wigdel and Osmo Eriksen should be offered a larger venue immediately, and, in a longer perspective, a contemporary dance company! These ladies with man can develop and renew contemporary dance in Norway."
