BECOMING
– work in progress
In BecomingAzra Halilovic takes use of her own diary notes as a source of insight in our contemporary time in a short and disturbing production about the immigrant’s juggling between cultures.
Becoming was a work in progress-performance, and can be seen as preparation to the production 1000 ZAŠTO 1000 ZATO, which Azra Halilovic opened during the autumn of 2010 in Avant Garden.

The performance monologue Becoming by Azra Halilovic is based on autobiographical material; Halilovic’s experiences from leaving Bosnia to move to Norway. With foundation in her own diary notes she creates tension in switching between her own history and her here-and-now presence in the communication with the audience. Azra Halilovic analyses how facts, experienced reality, prejudice, memories, fiction and myths are interwoven and make stories about the other, stories which may really be about us?
Halilovic studied theatre science at Norwegian University of Technology and Science. She has worked with different local theatre groups in Trondheim and with her own productions. For the time being her functions include being a project leader for Symposium at Avant Garden.
