Tangent

Tangent by Fabula Rasa was shown for the first time as a stunt at Kameratklubben during Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival. Kameratklubben (literally meaning The Club of Comrades) is a collective for substance abusers, formerly a Christian home for alcoholics in which director Nina Ossavy grew up. Tangent was a study of different strategies of constructing a self.

Was Tangent a performance, a concert, a meeting a stunt or a research experiment? In Norwegian, as in English, the term "tangent" can refer to the tangent of a piano as well as the mathematic term of a straight line touching a curved line at one point. In English, "off on a tangent" significates a jump of thought.

In Tangent, Fabula Rasa made a jump of thought on how people construct the idea of one’s own self. What kind of self-image or self-confidence does an alcoholic have? Does she feel good enough? How about a junkie? Or an actor? How about you? Are we constructing our own stories so to pose as better than we are? Is one ever good enough?
