Nullpunktet* (Freezing Point)
Nullpunktet* (Freezing Point) (1980) was a theatre production by The Arctic Theatre, the world premiere of a play by Ragnar Olsen and Per Sandborgh about the conflicts surrounding the Alta power plant. The demonstrations were still ongoing at the time of the opening.
Per Sandborgh directed the production.
Eli Doseth and John Sigurd Kristensen played the leading roles, of Åse and Nils.
The song Sámiid ædnan, written by Ragnar Olsen (lyrics), Sverre Kjelsberg (melody) and Mattis Hætta (joik) for the production, was the Norwegian contribution to The Eurovision Song Contest prior to the premiere. The song Kem eie vinden* (Who owns the wind) by Olsen, Kjelsberg and Per Christian Hansen, was also written for the production. In 1997, the latter song gave the title for a concert production summarising the musical history of The Arctic Theatre.
*Not yet translated into the English. The title within parentheses is the Norwegian title's literal meaning.
