Just a Stone's Throw away

In Just a Stone’s Throw away by Samovarteateret AKA The Samovar Theatre the audience got to glimpse three young persons’ daily life; three young persons who were growing up on each their side of a border. The three young were in the power of the conditions given to them. On which side of the border they live determines their choices and what options are available to them.

Just a Stone’s Throw away was built on meetings and interviews with youth living on the street of Murmansk (Russia) and youth in Kirkenes (Norway). Director Bente S. Andersen (Samovarteateret) and writer Ingeborg Arvola collaborated closely during the process, in giving the collected material a theatrical expression. The stories were told in the intersection between words, movement and music.

"During the work process we have been so lucky to be able to follow Save the Children’s outreach patrol working in Murmansk. We were allowed to meet some of the young people living on the street, interviewing them. We have met Norwegian youth in their communities and asked them the same questions about dreams, hopes and thoughts about the future.", Samovarteateret says.
