Café Plankton

Café Plankton by Teaterkompaniet det Mögels: The year is 2009, and the world is different. A pest has ravaged the world and few have survived. There is one city left on earth: The city of Miracles.

Café Plankton was a hybrid between cartoon and theatre and had a cover with serial number and price, numbered pages, talking and thinking bubbles, heroes and antiheroes, superpowers and sharp conflicts.

Café Plankton by the theatre company Teaterkompaniet det Mögels poses questions such as these: If a pest torments the world as a greedy hand, and no one is saved, neither poor nor rich, what will then happen in our modern, high-tech society? Can we create new vaccines fast enough? If not, are we civilized enough to act civil and treat each other as fellow human beings? Or will we do everything to save ourselves? How would we cope with isolation, even if we have chosen it for ourselves? How will we handle calculated, planned reproduction? These are the questions met in the city of Miracles, the city in which everything is allowed – even leaving – but do we dare to?

Café Plankton by Teaterkompaniet det Mögels made up the frame surrounding Bergen International Comics Festival Raptus 2007.

Café Plankton by Teaterkompaniet det Mögels was supported by Arts Council Norway, the art and culture administration in the municipality of Bergen and The Fund for Performing Artists.
