Jeg & Joe* (I & Joe)
Jeg & Joe*(I & Joe) by Rasmus Jørgensen. The production Jeg & Joe springs out from Rasmus Jørgensen's memory of Joe, his lower secondary school teacher. The production is presented as a tender and simple story, but it quickly switches into the complex. The past is staged, but what really happened between Rasmus and Joe? The simple text is continuously twisted into new interpretation through performative means of expression, music and choreography.

Rasmus Jørgensen works in the intersection between musical theatre and performance with a very physically oriented narration style switching between speech and song. In Jeg & Joe* (I & Joe) he plays out on the contrasts between trashy pop culture and pure minimalism, between wild humour and the very vulnerable. An underlying question in the play, in its content as well as its expression, it what is needed to create a drama? Is the truth good enough, or is it easily too tame?
The production was supported by Arts Council Norway and Atelier Nord.

"The first ten minutes I am annoyed by what I experience as affected, smug posing and ego-worshipping expressions of Jørgensen’s very conscious and thoroughly physical performance. I fear this will be both boring and repetitive. But all of a sudden I discover an hour has gone by without me noticing. I have let myself be captured by a performance artist using all of himself as a mean of expression, putting text, song, body language and mime on equal footing."
