Cirkus Los Amigos* (Circus Los Amigos)

In Cirkus Los Amigos* (Circus Los Amigos) by Krabatene we encounter the two clowns of the circus, the artists and best friends Rosita and Pepito, who revel with joy in acrobatics and dance, music and juggling acts, poetry and humour. The noses are red, the shoes are large in size, and Pepito’s hat keeps falling off.

The production is appropriate for children of different ages, kindergartens and schools, but adults can also find joy in watching the clowns in action. Cirkus Los Amigos is a small circus based on traditional circus skills and the clownery philosophy. Solid craft, expressed through body and voice, and with imagination and humour, forms the foundation for the production. Children (and adults) are given insight in how body and voice can be used creatively. The aim is to use as few technical aids as possible, the way the famous clowns of the old days did it. The more we can do on our own, the better. A singular spotlight and some taped music are all. The circus aims to awake the smell of a small circus ring; it is not supposed to be just noisy or just "cool".

Krabatene doesn't want to present the children to what they know from TV and media. The company wishes, like children, to create its own little world based on games, imagination and good, old-fashioned clownery. The hope is that the children will see how much one can create on one’s own, how much one can do with simple effects. Krabatene also hopes that the children will copy the methods in playing, that they feel like making music, learning to juggle, tell a story – or perhaps even become a clown.
