The background for the seminar Hvor bra er egentlig norsk teater?* (How good is Norwegian theatre really?) is a wish to start a discussion about the quality of Norwegian theatre and to follow up on the attempts at debate formerly started. Possible topics for the seminar Hvor bra er egentlig norsk teater? are if Norwegian theatre is of current interest, how Norwegian theatre relates to the contemporary, recruitment within Norwegian theatre and the visibility of Norwegian theatre in the media.

In 2001 Hans Rossiné, at the time a critic for the newspaper Dagbladet, said that there were many independent companies he abstained from reviewing because they delivered so much poor theatre he protected them by not writing about them. Is there any relevance to this quote in today's situation?
