The Yankee Princess
The Yankee Princess (1940) was an operetta production by The National Stage, based on the operetta by Emmerich Kálmán (music), Julius Brammer (libretto) and Alfred Grünwald. The production was performed in the venue Ole Bull Teatret.
Egil Hjorth-Jenssen directed it.
Swedish singer Hilde Nyblom played the role of Odette Darimonde. Randi Lindtner Næss took over the role when Nyblom fell ill.
Ivar Cederholm played the role of prince Radjami.
The opening took place in March 1940. When Norway was invaded by German troops April 9, the theatre closed, and stayed close for almost a month. Performances started again May 3. Bergen was attacked from the air the spring of 1940.
