Rundt og rundt* (Around and around) by The Stage Company raises red hot issues such as recycling, reuse, use of energy and climate issues through humour, sobriety, song, music and puppetry. The children are invited to take part through using their knowledge, ask questions and reflect over whether they can make a difference.
Finken is quite the buffoon. He only cares about new things – the old ones he throws away. Finken is a very busy man who can’t take the time for sorting his garbage. Finken is in a hurry. Felix likes to make innovative new things out of old things and he likes to sort through the trash and give it to his bird Gjenni. Gjenni is a very special bird – she eats garbage and lays big Columbus’ eggs with recycled products inside.
The sorting boxes are advanced installations with an alarm in each box. The alarms are installed by Felix to help Finken sort right. Finken is lazy and doesn’t bother to sort. Because of this, the alarm keeps sounding. Finken becomes annoyed and throws his garbage in the woods. One day all the garbage he has thrown away turns into a terrible garbage monster. Eventually Finken understands that he has to consider the environment. Finken decides that he and Felix are to light an environmental lighthouse. A lighthouse whose lights are to reach out as far as they can to make us all remember that when we take care of our own little world, we contribute to taking care of the whole wide world.
